My new camera gear

On my last post I talked about some camera gear that I just recently bought and that I would share for my upcoming trip. I made the transition to mirrorless camera. Having owned a Canon 7d for many years I thought that it was time for a change. The Camera I purchased (drum roll)…..Fuji XT-1.

The reason I purchased this camera it has the BEST quality Jpeg right out of the camera out there. It has 16 megapixel APS-C-size X-Trans CMOS II sensor (with on-chip phase detection),EXR Processor II, built-in Wi-Fi, and full HD video recording. The X-T1 is dust and water-resistant, and freeze proof to -10°C/+14°F.

A perfect adventurist camera!! Now I am not a pixel peeping junky or need 50 megapixel camera I just want clean beautiful images right out of the camera. Having looked at all the option out there the choice was clear for me. I also don’t have to worry about shooting RAW images anymore or worry about huge image files I don’t want to manipulate images anymore I would rather just have the exposure done in camera and be done.

I’m a adventurist first not a photographer. Oh and the size its nice and compact compared to DSLR another plus. Also Fuji XF lenses are as good or better than the Canon L series lenses and its not me saying it Google it you’ll see.

Here is my list for the trip

Fuji XT-1 with battery grip along with 5 batteries

Panasonic DMZ TS-5 waterproof point and shoot. (back up)

Fuji XF 55-200 zoom lens

Fuji XF 18-55

Fuji XF 23mm 1.4 For low light Astrophotography

Fuji XF 10-24 wide angle lens for landscape shots

F Stop Guru camera gear backpack for hiking glaciers etc…

Sirui carbon fiber tripod

Polarizing filter along with Lee grad filters and the Lee big stop

Here are some shots in JPEG strait from the camera except for Back and White photos.

I believe I have what it takes to capture everything on my trip. I am very pleased with my purchase and its performance. I’m still learning the camera and its functions and should have the grasp of things by the time I set off. Oh upgrading cameras and lenses isn’t cheep but I’m over that now. I think.

    1. Hi. If your looking for landscape photography for your backpacking trips have a look at the Fuji x100 it’s about $1000. But has same sensor as mine. You would get the same quality photo. My set up is about 6k. Not cheap. The lenses are the killer.
